2024 Coyote Calling Contest
January 20, was our Secound Annual Coyote Calling Contest, although we did get yet another round of frigid temperatures, the contest went on without a hitch. With a high of a chilling 18 above, we manged to wrangle in some teams to compete in the cold. After all the entries were taken, the rules were read and the teams were free to go! A total of 42 coyotes were checked in, with the largest coyote weighing in at 38 pounds. The winning team tagged 8 coyotes. We promoted predator control in a fun and competitive way, and we are very thankful for all those who participated. We are looking forward to next years event and hoping the third try will be the charm for some nice weather!
The Sandhills Cattle Association will be hosting its third coyote-calling contest for the Sandhills of Nebraska as a fundraising event and also as predator prevention for our next Sandhills calving season!
You do not have to be a member to participate. Online entries and payments are accepted.
The contest starts immediately after the rules are read at 5:00 pm on January 19.
Check-in for coyotes will be on January 20 from 5 to 6:00 pm.
