On February 24th, 2025, the Sandhills Cattle Association held a convention committee meeting to begin discussing the banquet on June 6th, 2025. Rick Marlatt, Brad Kaup, Justin Vinton, Eva Sampson, and Kami Freeman were in attendance. The meeting began at 7:35 P.M. with Kami giving a brief rundown of the tentative schedule. 3:30 Full board meeting, 4:30-6:00 cocktail hour (silent auction items open @ 4:30) 6:00 Serve meal and present membership meeting, 6:30 speaker, 6:45 Scholarship kid, 7:00 Close silent auction & begin live auction. Rick mentioned that we might need to allow the speaker more time to talk, but that was the only discussion on this topic. Everyone agreed that the timeline looked good. The next item on the agenda was potential speakers. Kami began by giving information on the suggested speakers. Brad mentioned the speaker he thought would work well. Justin and Eva mentioned another speaker. Kami added all the names of the suggested speakers to the list and asked the committee which two they wanted her to reach out to. The committee agreed on two people. Kami ended the topic by stating that she would reach out to them and let everyone know what they said. The next item on the agenda was the meal. Kami explained last year, Agri-Affiliates cooked the meat the association provided and comped the agri team a booth for the banquet as payment. Kami then asked the committee if they wanted her to ask the agri team again. They all said yes. Kami ended the topic by stating she would contact them and let everyone know what they said. The meeting moved on to the bar and sponsorship options. Rick said to reach out to the Corner Pub, and the committee agreed to keep the packages the same and to send them out soon to the full board so the board members could start gathering items and donations for the scholarship auction. The last order of business was discussing if the committee wanted a golf tournament. Rick explained that last year we did not have a good turnout, and instead of having a tournament, we should have a fun day of light golfing with hamburgers. Rick said we could still get hold sponsors to offset any costs we would have. The committee liked the idea of the fun day versus the full tournament. Kami suggested looking into doing the furthest drive contest as a side pot. Rick said he would call the golf course to see if they would allow us to use the greens. Kami asked if there were any other discussions. The committee said there was none. Rick moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:18 P.M. Brad seconded, and the motion carried. The meeting was adjourned.Â
